Hi I'm Keyrun and I'm new!
« on: October 30, 2011, 12:05:28 PM »
Hi Everyone. Im Keyrun. I am 51. I think I suffer from depression. I don't know where to begin. It's a long story. I'm in a marraige where I seem to get blamed all the time. I met my wife since we were 15! I found this site and read some of the members' messages and found some sort of comfort. Our marraige seems to be failing. We have not been properly intimate, the last time was about 2 years ago. I have 2  boys 25 & 17. I work sometimes long hours, only to come home to a frustrated wife and I have no energy left to chat, she does like very long chats, she works once or twice a week....I usually like to have a couple of beers to wind down and that does it she complains. I do believe that we have drifted apart dut to my long hours at work.  As I said this is a very long story with lots of friction that went on since we met. lately I just seem to have lost my appitite to eat. I just wondered if there is anyone here with a similar story. I do hope I am in the right place!

Thanks. Best Regards.

Hi keyrun  :)

I'm not so good on the relationship things but I'm sure others might be able to contribute, everyone here is lovely and will help all they can

I wonder if you have thought of counselling as a first step?

Just you or both together?

I think we do change as we get older, I married in the 70's and I know we arent the same people we were then, or at least I know I'm not the same person

Hello Keyrun Welcome to the forum.

You are going through a difficult time and it is sad to be in a relationship that has changed and seems to be going wrong. I sense that the feeling of things going wrong has been going on for a while, but you are still both together and I think this is s a good sign. Are you both able to talk together about your frustrations withint the realtionship? What went wrong with the counselling? I feel there are a number of things that can be done when a relationship feels under strain as long as you both want to work it out and can communicate in a civil manner. I wander if you feel this could be achieved?

You sound like you are going through a lot of strain with long working hours, then returning to a seemingly unsupportive environment can really add to this. Your loss of apetite is a concern. Do you have any other symptoms of depression?
