Viewers of The Repair Shop were left in tears on Wednesday as 12-year-old Colin was emotionally reunited with his cherished cat toy, Jess.  Colin, who was born with several serious health conditions, has endured countless hospital visits throughout his life, however, he always found comfort in his beloved cuddly cat, Jess.  However, Jess had also seen better days. The toy had been by Colin's side through every challenge, bearing its own 'battle scars', including tracheotomy and stoma incisions that mirrored Colin’s own medical experiences.  In desperate need of repair, Colin’s adoptive family turned to the experts at The Repair Shop to restore his beloved toy.  Specialists Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell took on the task of giving Jess a much-needed makeover.  What followed exceeded everyone's expectations, as when Colin saw Jess restored to her former self, he burst into tears of joy and sobbed as he clutched the cat close to his chest.  His reaction moved everyone in the room to tears and viewers across the nation were equally moved.  X, formerly known as Twitter, was flooded with sweet messages from fans who couldn't contain their emotions.  One viewer wrote: 'Not often I get a little emotional whilst watching TV. But tonight watching the delight of the wee boy on repair shop getting his toy Jess back was really touching.'

'Oh bless him ❤️ the smallest things can mean so much to us. What an emotional bit this was #therepairshop'

'Not me watching The Repair Shop with the famo and CRYING dude I can't, they’re repairing stuffed animals and objects and they all have a story and when they return the things they're restored it’s so emotional I can't deal man it’s so sweet.'

'I’m in bits. Bless Colin. ❤️ #TheRepairShop'

'The repair shop, gets you right there doesn't it? Some brilliant humanity still exists.'

'His reaction is one of the TV moments of the year. Well done all.'

It comes after The Repair Shop fans were feeling concerned earlier this month as a beloved star was missing from the line-up.  In a post to the BBC show's Instagram at the time, it was announced that The Repair Shop would be back this month for a new series, promising: 'More fixes. More stories. More memories restored.'

Host Jay Blades, 54, was seen beaming alongside a host of the regular experts, however, watch and clock specialist Steve Fletcher, 62, was missing from the image.  Horologist Steve has been part of the much-loved show since 2017, mending a plethora of cherished timepieces week after week for visitors to the West Sussex barn.  Steve appears on the show alongside leatherworker and saddle expert sister Suzie.  However, Steve did not make an appearance in the promotional image, and several fans flooded the comment section expressing their fears that he may not return.  They shared: 'Love this show! Missing Steve in the photo!; 'yeah, where's Steve!!'; 'Where the hell is Steve at?'; 'Where's Steve?'; 'Steve’s not missing, is he?!'; 'Where is Steve?! Sad to see he is missing in this photo.'
