Hi everyone

I've just joined this site and really hoping that it'll help me get htrough this. I've been suffering from depression on and off for over 2 years now but recently I've hit a real low. I've just split up from my 8 month boyfriend because of my depression. I pushed him and pushed him and constantly expected him to work out what was wrong with me and make it all better. But in the end I just made it impossible for him to love me properly, and I can't blame him. I'm really trying to stay positive and up beat but as soon as I stop anything I just start thinking about everything and what I did wrong. As soon as this happens I just burst into uncrontrollable tears and the pain is unbearable. I desperately need some coping techniques that anyone would like to suggest. I am receiving counselling but at the moment I could do with it every day so I'm hoping I can chat to someone online to get things off my chest and try and make more sense of what's going on in my head.

I hopethere's somone out there

Hi Jessica,

Splitting up with your boyfriend isn't helping how you're feeling even though neither of you are to blame. I know you don't blame him but it's not your fault either.

Are you using any relaxation techiques to help? Music helps me and I engross myself in things I usually enjoy when I'm not depressed. For example I enjoy reading so I choose carefully what I read. Do you enjoy dancing and if you do have you tried salsa? Exercise helps even if's just going out for a walk or swimming.

I will do a bit of research online for other ideas.

hey jessica...

do you have anyone you can talk to on msn etc? I find that helps... although obviously it needs to be with the right person as not everyone understands and is supportive, sometimes people don't know how to react and end up saying the wrong thing.

I'm new to this forum, so I'm not entirely sure if it allows private messages etc, but if you ever see me online you're more than welcome to chat to me.. I've definitely found that by trying to help others who are going through the same thing, it takes your mind off things that are worrying you and you might find that some of the advice you give applies to you too....
