Hello
« on: November 23, 2012, 02:53:49 PM »
Hello. I have never posted on a forum before so this is all a bit new to me. I have recently been in hospital with depression and now that I am back at home everything seems a bit strange & there doesn't seem to be much support available. I found group therapy sessions quite useful when i was in hospital as i discovered there are other people out there who feel similar to me, so thought I would try out this forum! I wondered as well - I have been taking mirtazapine & venlafaxine for 2 months now & i`m not sure if they are really doing anything - surely they should have started working by now? What do others think?

Hi Wallow, and welcome,
some times it can take a while for the meds to kick in, and some times you may need to change them as some work better than others,
im on mirtazapine and citalopram here. the venlafaxine made me more spaced out and drowsy.

Hi lovely,

I was on Ciatlopram and recently changed to Venlafaxine. It does take a while for meds to work, but if you are concerned, I'd suggest having a chat with your GP xxx

I've found posting on here to be helpful. Feel quite lonely where I am and it's comforting to know there are peeps here who know what you're going through xxx

Mirtazepine and Venlafaxine combined is reputed to be the most powerful anti-depressant combination. The USA nickname for it is California Rocket Fuel. It would be nice if it had started working inside two months, but I doubt you’re anywhere near the maximum doses. 45 mg for Mirtazepine, 375 mg for Venlafaxine. It might be worth discussing a increase.
