Struggling :(
« on: February 15, 2012, 08:50:08 PM »
I've recently (5 ish) weeks been diagnosed with depression and am struggling!

I'm learning to put on a smile and pretend everything is normal. I started off on Citalopram which just made me feel awful and I felt I was driving my friends away- I'm at uni so live with my friends. I switched to Mirtazapine about a week ago because I wasn't sleeping and it just completely knocks me out.

I've got about 6 weeks of uni left and don't want to leave being on bad terms with my friends but I just can't summon up the energy to care at the moment.

I want to talk but not to a counsellor. Not even sure what I want to talk about. I haven't told my parents, or my best friends from home- I'm just not sure how to bring up the subject. I've had a pretty decent life and have nothing to be depressed about. And I don't want to bother my friends from uni- they have enough work to be worrying about at the moment.

 &*( for you Freya.

Its a hard thing to deal with.  Its also hard to tell people you are suffering with depression.  We are here to listen to whatever you need to say when you are ready.  We all understand and we are here to help.

Take care

As shaz says you can talk to people here, or perhaps try counselling with MIND if there is one local to you, they do much reduced rates for tjose that cant afford the full fees xx

I am having my councelling through MIND, I have also done some courses with them in the past.  If you just put MIND into your search engine you will be able to find a local centre.  I have found them to be really good.  Councelling sessions cost £35 or less if you are on benefit or have financial problems.
