Title: Studying again
Post by: Amanda_George on April 19, 2019, 06:41:35 PM
Just completed my 5th course in 9 days and I've now got 4 diploma's and a certificate under my belt with another 3 certificates planned for the weekend and Tuesday.

Steve (the hubby and carer) reckons I should do the safeguarding children course next. The nursery assistant one should hopefully be a breeze 'cos I'm already qualified to do it, but I want to update my skills and knowledge just to keep myself current and the mental wellbeing in children will just be in addition to the child psychology courses I've already taken and purely out of interest so I'm gonna do that one last.

I know now that for end of course tests I should NOT revise anything and just go with my first instinct. I also know that I won't be able to take any more OU courses 'cos my brain damage means that courses that last longer than 40 hours (including time I'm asleep) are pointless 'cos I'll never remember what I learnt and my instincts will desert me too 😔

Not letting that get me down too much though... there are other courses that I can study that are under the 40 hour time limit so I'll just take those instead 🙂

Logging off for the night now though so that I can put my celebratory burger on the table now that it's been delivered.

Safeguarding courses are always useful ones to do  :happy0064:

Definitely Pip!

Gonna do the Diploma in Mental Health Studies after I've had me lunch and hope I pass it 'cos it's on a different site and I can't remember how they work now!   :bash:

I've got another 3 free courses that I want to do after that and I'm hoping I'll get another "congrats on finishing your course, how about even more huge discounts on more?" type email, like I did yesterday lol  I've done 6 courses with them that cost me less in total than just one of their full-priced courses so I'm hoping for another marketing email with even more discounts either tonight or tomorrow lol

*ahem*

I passed the course!!!!

I thought I had another 3 modules to study before the end of course assessment so getting thrown into it was a big surprise, but I did it in 7 hours instead of the 10-15 it said!

Gonna celebrate with chocolate (of course lol) then head to bed with a big smile on my face!

Passed another 6 courses today as well as hopefully breaking up all the text on my webpages with little icons.

Got another 8 courses left to study, so I'm hoping for one a day next week, 'cos it's a struggle to remember things an hour later, let alone overnight!!

Feeling particularly proud of myself right now.

Why?

Because I've just finished another course with a score of 100%!!

Means that as of right now, I've got another 7 courses to do, 4 of which will finish the bundle (the fifth course) then the last two are childcare courses and they're already paid for (I paid in advance of doing the courses) so that's one less thing to worry about.

When I've finished all those I've got an educational psychology course on Alison and 2 more on OpenLearn by which time, I'll hopefully have saved up enough for another course on the New Skills Academy site at full price, unless I get another marketing email from them with another huge discount on a course or twelve!  I've taken 19 courses there so far and haven't paid full price for a single one of 'em... I've paid less for those 19 courses and the 7 that are still to do than a single full price course and that's purely from clicking on a Facebook ad and taking advantage of the last 3 marketing emails they've sent me!  lol

Feeling really proud of myself for that score on this morning's course and I'm gonna do the GDPR certificate after I've had me lunch.

Just completed my third course of the day and, out of 100 assessment questions (in total over the 3 courses), I only got 6 of 'em wrong, which is awesome!

Got a loooong course to study throughout tomorrow 'cos it's a huge 10 modules so I hope there isn't a final assessment 'cos there's no way I'll remember what I learnt in the morning by lunchtime, let alone at the end of the day!  I much prefer multiple mini assessments at the end of each module (like today's assessments) so that I only need to remember a couple of hours rather than having to rely on my damaged brain to remember from one end of the day to the other and if I don't finish it and take the assessment before I head to bed, there's no way I'll remember any of it 12 hours later!  Just lunchtime will be a tough enough job for my cruddy memory!

93.33%!!!!

I'm going to bed with a huge grin plastered all over my face now.

Nite nite orl!

Thank you Pip... got another 3 courses to study as of the night before yesterday too lol

Just finished the first of the three new ones and because of the site having problems all day and into the evening yesterday, it took me three days to study it instead of the two I was hoping for.

It's done and dusted now though and I'll start the next course tomorrow... gonna give myself the rest of the day off - I think I deserve it! lol

Finished one course last night at about 6.15pm-ish and another one today both with the same final score of 76.67% on each of 'em.  Got one more short course to do tomorrow then 2 diploma's that'll take 1.5-2 days each then that's them all sorted again!  I'm loving this studying and by paying less than 10% of the full price courses by taking advantage of all the marketing email, I've saved thousands and it keeps me sane and out of trouble!

Completed another two courses today and out of 30 question I only got one single one wrong total.

:jumping0045:

Got 4 more courses to do that'll take a couple of days each then that's it again.

Blog creation certificate and children's story diploma first, then the kids party planning and the wedding planning ones from the middle of next week.

I'm really enjoying being able to escape and learn stuff every day... keeps me out of trouble lol

Can't get better than that for an afternoon's studying!

Took another quick course and got another 100% on it.

Not bad going for an afternoon of studying!

Just finished another course.  95% on the end of course "exam" and took 5-6 hours instead of the 10-15 it estimated lol

:yay:

Gonna have a celebratory mug of tea then start on a 3-4 hour course then have a really early night knowing that I don't have to remember anything for the test tomorrow now!

Just studied another course and got one single question wrong on the entire course.

Disability Awareness Certificate next,  :happy0158: when Steve comes back into the living room so that he can answer the phone or door if anyone tries to contact us so that I don't need to worry about stopping in the middle of the course and accidentally forgetting everything that I've just been taught.  Yep, my memory really is that cruddy.

Studied 3 courses this afternoon and out of 55 questions I only got 2 wrong which is good going by me.  I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed studying and how stable it kept my mental health!  Gonna take my second days worth of pills then head to bed.

Don't think I should drop the dose any further just in case I go fruitloop again, but I'm now on less than a third of the maximum dose I was on when I came out of the hospital (Neurology ward) in 2003 so I ain't complaining!

Another course passed just now with no revision or checking my notes from this morning I scraped through by 1 question, but I DID IT!!!

Feeling soooo proud of myself now!

I know that I can study a 10 module diploma course in a day and still just about pass it, which gives me hope for tomorrow now!  Just gotta decide on which one to study after walking the pup tomorrow now.

I can sooo do this studying thing!

Can someone remind me to make an early start on the Child Internet Safety Certificate course as soon as I come home from walking the pup tomorrow morning please?

Today's course and the Child Internet Safety Certificate came as a bundle, so I'll be able to put 3 courses on my completed courses page, just by studying 2 courses.

Tomorrow's course is another day-long one with 10 modules again so I reckon that if I start at 9am I'll hopefully be finished by 6.30pm again.

I'm feeling sooo positive right now!!  We're having a celebratory pizza for tea lol

In the last 30ish hours I've studied two courses and gained two diploma's and a certificate... not bad going at all!  Gonna do the mental health courses tomorrow, as long as I remember.

Did the anxiety awareness diploma today and passed first time... yaaaay!

OCD is, according to the course, a serious anxiety disorder that can only be recovered from if the anxiety causing the obsessions and compulsions is addressed and totally sorted out.

I've never had any kind of professional support with overcoming it, but I've got rid of at least 95% of what it used to be like.  Still check the front door is on the latch so that I can get back in every morning when I take the pup for her walk and give the latch a quick pull just to make sure it's locked when I've answered the door to someone but that's nothing compared to how it used to be and I did it all by meself!   :yay:

There's someone coming to fit a CCTV camera at lunchtime tomorrow so I'll do the self-harm course first thing so that I'm not interrupted half way through the course, then do the depression awareness course on Friday and Saturday 'cos that one's definitely the 16 moduler so it'll take a couple of days to do it and the assessment at the end of the course on Saturday afternoon/evening will be the most challenging part because of my brain damage/cruddy memory.

I'm determined to pass it first time as well though!   :giggle: :jumping0045: :m121: :sign0061:

Just finished my second course of the day.  Out of 40 assessment questions I only got 3 wrong, so I'm feeling pretty positive about it!

Tomorrow morning is the dental course in the morning, then lunch, handing over Steve's headphones to the Freegle person, then the sound healing and crystal healing courses in the afternoon, ready for the depression course on Saturday and Sunday... it'll be a test of my memory 'cos it'll be over two days so I'm guessing I'll have to revise my notes before the end of course assessment but it'll test me to see if my memory has improved in the last month or so since I took my last long course!

Finished the depression course with an end of course assessment score of 100%  :thud: despite being sure I'd got 2 of the questions wrong lol

Onto the Colour Therapy Certificate now then it's prescription and bed time and another course as soon as I wake up tomorrow again.  This studying lark is making me feel sooo good.  Wish my memory was better so that I could study with the OU, but I reckon doing these courses is slowly but surely helping my brain to recover from the damage... it's just gonna take a looooong time unfortunately.

Just scraped through the pass on the colour therapy certificate... the passing score was 70% and I got 70% so I only just passed, but I'm not complaining.

Steve's decided that I'll do the pet nutrition diploma tomorrow... 17 modules and an end of course assessment, so I hope they are short modules and easy questions like on the depression course this morning/afternoon 'cos I doubt I'll remember any of it a day later lol
