Friendship
I sit here quietly thinking
wondering what to say
For once I want some lovely words
to make a person's day.
It's hard to find a happy time
when all I feel is pain
But knowing someone cares for me
each day I try again.
I've done some very stupid things
and tried so hard to leave
But I'm not judged or criticised
though it hurts so hard to breathe.
I'm trying to take a moment
saying thanks for being there
You spend your time and wisdom
showing me you deeply care.
I know I tell you all the time
I don't know who I am
And you try your best to tell me
that I'm doing all I can.
But you don't need to change me
as I think I know the end
It started when I learnt to trust
and in you I found ... a friend.
