Title: Another journalist talks about new discovery
Post by: bookletters on November 19, 2012, 07:06:33 PM
Another article about the discovery of the "motivation pathways" in the brain (and how scientist Deisseroth was able to create artificial motivation in rodents by stimulating specific neurons).

This time the article quotes the scientist who came up with the discovery: “This (lack of motivation to take action) is one of the most debilitating aspects of depression, and motivation to take action is something that we can model in animals. That’s the exciting opportunity for us as researchers”

So scientists can make depressed rats become motivated again simply by stimulating specific neurons, bring on being able to do this with humans!!

There is little surprising about this, nor is there any encouragement in the short terms (years) to be had in reading such articles.

May I ask why you are reading such things and what your sources are?
