I'm Raven. I'm 39 years old and am a single mum to two boys, aged 10 and 12, both of whom are autistic. I have suffered with depression for a long time now. I was officially diagnosed in 2006, but my doctor says he thinks that it was there for a while before that. In 2010 my diagnosis changed to Bipolar Affective Disorder. This has made things very different. I am still trying to get my head around my dignosis. I hope that makes sense. I have some trouble getting my feelings down in writing.
There is a lot of other stuff, but I guess I'll keep that for another time. I'm just hoping that I can find people here who will actually know how it feels. I look forward to talking to you guys.
I'm real sorry if this post is a load of rubbish.

Hello Raven your post is certainly not a load of rubbish! It is difficult to get your head around a diagnosis, particularly when yourhead is the thing that is being challenged! It is also difficult to articulate your feelings sometimes, we all know how that feels, so in your own time if you want to talk about things then we are all here to support you however we can.

.>, Raven, there is no such thing as a rubbish post and your's is a good intro of yourself.

Hi Raven, and welcome.
A diagnosis of bipolar really seems to hit people hard. I just have "standard" depression so I haven't experienced it myself, but this is what I have seen from other people. So I think it's completely normal to have a hard time getting your head around it, and that you will get there in the end.
I hope that the diagnosis has led to you getting the right treatment.

Thank you all so much. I'm teetering on the brink of a downer right now. Trying very hard to fight it.

I write. I'm going to grab a pen and try to write something in a little while.
