Title: Hi my name is Debi
Post by: Debi on October 06, 2011, 01:41:55 PM
Hi everyone, I'm very new to asking for support, but I'm behond trying to help myself now. And boy have I a story to tell, one knock after another, but that's going to be another post.
I am married with 2 sons, and very close to my family. I've been supporting them through a really bad few years, now I need help x

Hi Debi,

I'm Pete. The first thing you have is the hardest and that is to realise you need help and to actively seek it. I can tell you that support and advice is freely available here from so many people in the same position as you. There is no judgement just an open ear and real understanding. When your ready you can maybe tell us more and maybe someone can help. In the meantime have a read through the pages and you'll see your not alone.

Hi Debi

Pete is right, knowing you need help is the first step to recovery, everyone here knows what its like to be depressed or cares for someone that is and will help they all they can, no one will judge or tell you that you need to pull yourself together, quite honestly I think this place is a lifeline

PS have you been to your GP yet?

Hi Debi. It's really hard to start to open up and ask for help when you're not used to doing it, it feels vulnerable and nerve wracking. That was one of the hardest things for me. You will find that everyone is so reassuring and non judgmental and you will soon be posting freely and possibly find that you can help others too along the way.

If you have been feeling essentially unlike yourself in mood and character constantly for more than a few weeks please go to see your GP and talk freely with him/her about how you feel. Even if it doesn't seem to make any sense to you, just describe it in whatever words you can find. Feel free to let anything out here.
