They call me Little Miss Sunshine
but I can't feel those rays
Dark clouds have settled overhead
and I have lost my way.
They say I have a special smile
that darkens shades of grey
I can't say why that special smile
won't chase these blues away.
They call me Little Miss Sunshine
and a storm starts in my brain.
Outside I'm Little Miss Sunshine,
inside, I'm Little Miss Rain.

It is so simple and rubbish. But it means so much to me.
-
That is not rubbish at all! Yes, its very simple, but it describes depression perfectly - it doesn't need to be any more complicated than that :)
I think you can be very proud of yourself for summing up what we all feel within a few lines. I, for one, think its brilliant xx

Lovely poem - Thanks D XX

It's very good, people write their most poignant words when they are their lowest ebb - I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing, probably both - bittersweet!
-
Simple but very well said, I think I will be printing it off and framing it to remind folk in my house that things arent always what they seem :( xxx

this isn't a bad poem at all. don't think that it is. the other replies are right. you summed up how a lot of us feel vwry effectively. keep writing.
-
I think its brilliant :)
-
Yes keep writing. I remember once in the middle of a deep depression someone telling me, 'You know, Mark, your always smiling!'

That is a lovely poem and sums up how I think a lot of people with depression feel - I certainly can empathise with it, I am known as the 'bubbly blonde ditzy carefree' one in my group of friends and only a few of them know what lies beneath as it were.
