Title: Citalapram and headaches?
Post by: suze on April 15, 2011, 07:05:29 PM
Does anyone who takes Citalapram suffer from headaches?  I have been taking them for a few months and after a recent increase of dose have had bad headaches every day. I saw my GP yesterday and she did'nt feel that headaches was a major side effect and that it was probably tension.  Also my tinnitus seems to be worse too.  Prior to Citalapram I was on Fluoxetine and they did'nt seem to cause the problem I have now.

Hi,

When I was taking Citalopram in 2009 I didn't suffer from headaches as a direct result of the medication.

Tension however may be a cause of them.

I know when I am tense, or having a bad day, I get a pain that runs right accross my shoulders and slowly creeps up my neck and then I get a full blown headache. This can take hays to clear.

I try and remedy this by using one of those microwave wheat pads accross my shoulders. I also put a few drops of lavander on it and it sooths the pain. If that doesn't work, a nice hot bath, some lavander salts (or whatever suits you) with a hot towel rolled up into a sausage around my neck works well. Just lie there for a while and relax, listen to some music if possible.
