Hi Folks
I'm new to this forum but my position seems to be a slightly different one to many of you. My wife recently had a manic term followed by a very low period which she is still battling through. I came across this forum and thought that there could be others out there in a similiar position. I'm coping well myself but to be honest I'm finding myself a little worn out in the past week.
If you are in a similiar position I'd really like to hear from you. I thought about picking up some books but don't have an idea where to begin.
Any support would be warmly welcomed.

I'm in a situation where both myself and my husband both suffer with depression so know how wearing it can be at times particularly when we're both on a downer.

Hi Rolex welcome to the forum, I think it must be very difficult for a partner deal with a partners depression. Bel has recommended some books here, she maybe she will be on soon. Take care, and your wife is lucky to have a good caring husband. Is she getting some help like CBT, it is helping me if only slowly. :)

Is your wife on any meds for it?
Out of all depressive issues I've found (personally) that Bi-polar is the worst.
An ex of mine had it and as soon as she was on a prescription she felt 'normal' again. Afraid I don't know what the pills were but I'm sure somebody on here can help.
Maybe see your GP anyway, if she's on meds, they might be wearing off.
If she's not on meds, see what options there are.
You've done a good thing getting books and stuff and joining the forum, nice one. Keep us updated!

My book recommendation (as advertised by lightenup ;)) is "Depression, the way out of your prison" by Dorothy Rowe. It includes a chapter specifically addressed to people who live or work with depressed people. DR is a psychotherapist and bases her ideas on how and why we get depressed on her work with depressed people. I've found it extremely helpful in understanding and dealing with my own depression. Hope this is helpful. x
