Hello,
Been dealing with depression for most of my life. My mother is bipolar. so i guess it's in the genes. The last couple of years have been a struggle due to being in a relationship with someone who didn't understand what i was going thru. I just wanted her to accept me for who i am, that's all i was asking.

Hello Lee !"£ to the forum, unfortunaely harsh words if your girlfriend isn't supportive when your ill, she is not much of a person. Throughout our life everyone needs a bit of support, and no your not asking for much. It has been difficult in the past as a mum when I seen one of my boys with girlfriends who just sucked the life out of him (and money) and where totall high maintenance. We never interfered and just were here for him when he needed us. He has met a lovely girl who loves him for being him.
Just remember there is a nice girl who is worth waiting for who is waiting for someone like you. Take care

Hi Lee. !"£
Don't know if depression is genetic or just if you've "learned" depression from your mother. Guess it doesn't matter really :-\
Relationships are difficult, people who don't get depressed do find it difficult to understand and deal with sometimes (ask my husband!) But if the relationship is making your life more difficult then maybe it is time to move on. Try to build up your own self esteem and well-being, then you'll be in a better place to get together with the right person for you.
Best wishes, bel
