Title: Depression and gut problems
Post by: Juliatee on December 13, 2013, 05:12:46 PM
My story is long so I won't bother to tell except that I am suffering with depression, anxiety and stress.  I have had one tablet of sertraline followed by raging diarrhoea .  My gp says wait a few days and then try again before deciding whether the diarrhoea was a reaction or coincidental. I feel headachy And nauseous and although hungry I can't eat when faced with food. Apparently I will feel worse before I feel better, and the thought is terrifying as I feel so ghastly.

I would be grateful if anyone with experience of this drug could give advice.

I am 63 and never had mental health problems before.

Many thanks,

Juliatee

Hi Juliatee, welcome to the forums, unfortunatly depression, anxiety and stress can all strike at the same time, at any age, and there are many things that can set them off.
sertraline is one of many anti d's out there, and it could be just coincidental that you have diarrhoea at the same time.

the body can take a while to settle down to a new med, but if things dont improve, make sure you tell the doc asap, and he can change it to something else.

 :welcome: Juliatee,

We have had one heck of a day that started badly but improved so sorry for not responding before now.

Although it may seem bleak now life can improve.  It's new for you but members here will understand what you're going through.
