Title: Hi from a nervous newbie
Post by: jelly on April 13, 2013, 08:02:01 PM
Hi all,

I've been battling depression for a couple of years. Was doing really well until Feb when I received distressing news and my depression and anxiety have returned worse than ever. I've been back on fluoxetine for about 4 weeks now and really struggling with the side effects.
I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that things will get better.....
Has anyone else experienced similar?

Thanks, J x

Hello and welcome. It will get better. It will take time and patience. I remember thinking I would never feel better but with medication and counselling I did recover.  I still have down days but they are nothing like they were.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.  It's good you recognise the trigger points of your depression.  Sometimes the side effects of antidepressants at the beginning is really off putting, but they do usually pass with time.  It's always worth mentioning them to the Doctor.  Hopefully you will soon start to feel the benefit of the Fluoxetine soon.

Hi Jelly, welcome to the forums, the side effects should stlle down soon, if they continue to trouble you bring it up with your doctor , they can try another medication.
