Title: Hi, a newbie in need!
Post by: msundastood78 on March 28, 2013, 03:29:48 AM
Hi, I am fairly new to forums & hopefully I will get the hang of it!
I am 34 & a mum to my 9 year old daughter. I have been with my partner for 7 years & for the most part, things have been good.
I have suffered from depression for 20 years on & off. At the moment, I am currently going through my longest low period & have been for nearly 3 years. I am on medication but I am in the process of getting them changed by my doctor as I feel they are not working as well as before.
I have frequent mood swings which are very tiring & an occasional panic attack.
I have lost confidence in myself & have no friends that I can really talk to. I have become a recluse & only go out to attend my counselling sessions.
I feel like I have to put on a brave face all the time so then no one can see how low I am but it is getting harder to do each day.
I hope to find some nice people to chat to on here who know & understand.
Thank you for reading  :bye:

Hello and welcome, having to put an 'I am OK face' is very hard when inside we are screaming. We all understand here.  You are not alone.

hi and welcome to the forums, putting on a brave face must be very draining on an already hard situation,
changing meds may help, and it sometimes takes a combination of tablets do get things at least a little better.

hope you enjoy your times here and find them helpfull

Sometimes changing meds can make us feel even more fragile than before.  Hopefully the new med regime might be of better help. I suffer agoraphobia and can appreciate your anxiety over going outdoors.  Depression is a very lonely illness and I think most of us try to put brave faces on for fear of sounding too miserable.

Welcome to the Forum.  You will find everyone friendly and welcoming and willing to listen and support as best we can
