So very glad to be here and feel comfortable enough to share my feelings and ideas with like minded people. It's something of a relief. +=-
I have suffered with depression since quite a young age, due mostly to having an abusive mother, and a father not around for any real length of time as he couldn't cope with my mother and the responsibilities of fatherhood. I decided to walk away from my mother and the dysfunctional, unhealthy members of my family and actually have felt the benefits of finally fidning the courage to do just that.
I am a mother myself now and have a beautiful daughter who I absolutely adore. She is my life and I will do all and everything to keep her safe and happy, but free enough to evolve into who 'she' is. She is an amazing little girl and I am so very proud of her. I am in a longterm relationship and live in the wonderful countryside of the South east of England.
I like to kid myself that I am an artist! And photographer! *()
Despite the dark days, I do see the sunshine and feel it's warmth! Moving to the countryside was one of the best decisions i've made. The move was an enormous help where dealing with my depression is concerned. Being arty and loving nature means lots of walks to be had and inspiration on my own doorstep every day, when I feel the ned to escape.
If you should see me stumbling about the place looking lost, say hello won't you!

It's nice to read about someone enjoying life and I would like to congratulate you on having the courage to make a very difficult decision like that. I bet you feel a million times better for it as well.
I hope you continue to show such strength and live life, but for those difficult times we're all here to lend an ear or offer "words of wisdom" where possible.

I originally come from the South-East - in the old days the Isle of Sheppey was nice - not so good now.
Good to hear you get out and about - I think nothing can beat good old England for fresh air and natural beauty. I live on the banks of the River Avon and spend many an hour just sitting and switching off (as much as that is possible).
I too only recently joined this forum - people seem really friendly. I hope you get out of it what you expect.

Yes, it was difficult at first, but I knew that for my and my daughter's future happiness, I needed to surround us both with happy, healthy and FAIR people. Most of my family are happy to continue living a lie and playing unhealthy games. I refuse to accept this and always have. My walking away is my saying- Enough! No more...

I consider myself so lucky being 'here', and understand how you feel about being able to switch off in such surroundings. This must help you alot, it does me.
