Hello everyone
Just joined up. Been battling bouts of depression for most of my adult life, and after CAT am now in group therapy.
I've been on various medications, but am currently not taking anything at present; I'm coping at the moment but when things get tough I struggle to function.
I'm still feeling a bit shy, so don't want to give too much about myself away at the moment...
Hope to find some people who understand, really.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. It doesn't take long to get to know everyone. I hope you find the posts helpful. I much prefer group therapy to a 1-2-1. I find, it's less intense.

Thanks.
Initially I struggled with group sessions; I think I barely spoke more than a sentence in the 90 minutes for the first few weeks... but I've come round a bit as I get to know others. I hated the awkward silences in the 1-2-1 sessions. but I sometimes find that the group sessions can be a bit too frenetic. if the group is smaller I seem to to better, around 5 including myself seems a good number.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone :)
Cheers.

There were originally 8 or 9 in my group therapy but soon dwindled to 5. What I found is that whatever issues might come up between you and other group members, are usually the same issues you have with people on the outside. It takes a while for this side to materialise, but it will.
I'm pleased to see you are finding your way around the Forum, it's an excellent place to vent, listen and learn. Once you get to know the other members, it starts to feel like group therapy online. I hope you find it as helpful

yes, I know what you mean. 8 started but there's only been around four or five the last few weeks. there's one or two strong characters that swamp the conversation and that can be a bit frustrating at times but at the beginning it was useful as it meant I didn't need to talk. but now I want to talk so it can be a bit of an annoyance.
Am starting to find my feet, thanks, and yes I hope it's helpful too.
