Title: Book recommendation
Post by: Wallow on January 11, 2013, 12:53:34 PM
Hi there, can anyone recommend any good memoirs of depression or other mental health problems? I have recently read "shoot the damn dog" and am about to finish "sunbathing in the rain" by Gwyneth Lewis." I've tried to read books about other things but I just can't seem to concentrate on them at the moment. I found both of those books insightful too - I guess there is some comfort in reading about people's similar experiences. Any suggestions gratefully received!

"The Mindful Way Through Depression" by Mark Williams, John Teasdale, Zindel Segal & Jon Kabat-Zinn is by far the most useful book I've read about depression. It comes with an audio CD that guides you through a course of Mindfulness meditation that I've found enormously beneficial in terms of managing my current depression.
All best, Jon

I haven't read it myself but I've heard a lot of good things about ''An Unquiet Mind'' by Kay Redfield Jamison. :)
