Title: Doing and thinking weird things
Post by: Tacey on November 20, 2012, 09:01:10 AM
I'm after a bit of reassurance really.

Over the past week or so, I've seen some improvement in my depression/anxiety.  I had my first CBT session, and I'm using mindfulness.  Feeling hopeful there could be light at the end of the tunnel.

Out of nowhere though, I've started doing and thinking really strange things.  I spent a long time trying to remember what month I'll be returning to work before remembering I gave up before my daughter was born - in 2009!  I keep finding things in strange places in the house - a few bits of dirty crockery in my bedroom cupboard for example.  I'm zoning out quite a lot, but it's pretty scary when I realise something I've done, but I have no recollection of.  It's not doing wonders for the anxiety, let me tell you!

Is this something others have found, or am I cracking up?

Could this not be caused by your medication? xx

I'm not currently on anything.  It's making me wonder if I should be...

If you can't get a GP visit quickly (which I think is needed)  you should phone nhs 24  if you are in the uk , and explain your symptoms

You could be suffering what's known as "thought disorder".  I think originally found in schizophrenia, it is known to be present in people suffering acute depression.

I've been having a bad time with it.  My memory is almost non-existent and I leave notes and lists everywhere.  I forget where I put things, find glasses in the freezer or hunt for them when they're on my head.   :-\  I even went to Asda one day in my slippers!  _)_ Often, I can go shopping with a shopping list that I actually forget to look at it and come home without some important items. _-+

At one point, I did actually worry there was something wrong with my brain.  But, I think things have been improving of late, so I guess it was the depression after all.

If you're overly concerned, speak to your GP.  Sometimes we just need some "professional" reassurance.
