Title: schemas
Post by: tharidler on October 25, 2012, 12:51:23 PM
after years of different meds and therapies and working at cbt for several years it still amazes me how deep rooted and powerfull schemas can be, i started out as a bit of a sceptic and probably struggled to start with as a result of this but over time i have become a convert and i do believe this is a worthwhile path to help understand some problems that i have and even now i get suprised at the strength of reaction as yeterday i was transported to my childhood and it was difficult and scary also upsetting but worthwhile in the end so if any of you have the chance i would recomend it but i would also say its taken a lot of commitment to the work to make progress also i wonder if there are any of you out there that it hasn't helped because i know that it has only helped in certain aspects of my condition

hi zaf
the schemas are all part of the cognitive behavioral therapy that i have been having the schemas evolve from lessons learnt in life some can be good the problem ones are called maladaptive schemas and we need to be able identify these and basically unlearn them thats it in a nutshell but obviously there is a lot more to it
