Well this morning hasn't been too bad,
I managed to wake up in a reasonably positive mood :) and still feeling ok, (despite the bus not turning up and me being late for work)
Not feeling achey or tired.. hopefully today will remain on a positive for me.
Actually nice when you get the odd day where you don't feel like hiding!
-
That's one good thing about depression is that not all days are bad + in the evenings your mood usually lifts and even without medication you get lots of "feeling normal" times when you think you are out of the woods... (I know because when I first got depression it took me 3 months to go and see a doctor as I didn't understand what was wrong with me!!!). Effective medication does help the symptoms not get too bad + you can sleep / relax and that is a huge help too!! It does make your recovery be a lot quicker too!
Are you on meds?
Fast acting AD (GLYX-13) currently on clinical trial phase II (until december), how cool will it be if in the future we recover from depression in three hours!!!!
-
I'm not on any meds, and I don't think I'm in a serious enough position at the moment to get any..
I was about 2 months ago after my last partner left me.. although that relationship was doomed as she had bulimia, I've realised they don't mix very well.
But I've recovered ok from that now with the help of a few people around me that put up with my slump that I hit!
-
Very good!!!!
You know, a very small dose of antidepressant could help you if you have physical symptoms like not sleeping well or finding it tough to cope at work etc.... it won't make you addicted and the side effects are really minor or non existent (in my case anyway).
You would be surprised how much it would actually help you! However, if you are managing okay but yourself and not suffering too much then keep going and we are here for you!
Have you tried CBT? That would help too x
-
Never really looked into it tbh, but I will do and see if it can help :)
-
You should! There are many things you can do to avoid suffering. Depression is treatable / manageable and you don't have to suffer!!
-
there is indeed, and apparently Carlsberg isn't one of them :p

Aaaah yet another man drinking to try to soft feeling bad because of depression. Congratulations, you are man number 3 that I have come across so far (others were friends of hubby!).
Seriously, if things are bad enough that you are wanting a drink, get yourself to your GP.... Have you done the PH-9 questionnaire? How much do you score on that?
It is there: http://www.med.umich.edu/1info/fhp/practiceguides/depress/phq-9.pdf
-
Oh dear... well that has a nice score of 16 :/
ummm you are definitely right..
hmmm have to muster some confidence to talk to a gp then I think
-
16???
Yep, get yourself to a GP and take the PH9 with you if you want although they will have you fill one in probably.
Book an appointment now!!
-
about to post a brief history of me so hope that will explain a bit more about me
-
Good idea!!
-
already done, did not enjoy writing that! but it is the start of a journal I'm going to try to keep :)
-
Well done! Writing often helps you know!
-
Well it has certainly brought some horrid memories back :s but yeah at least it is out somewhere now
-
Definitely, it was very touching.
You seem so resilient, well done!
-
not resilient, just feel that somehow i deserved it, so I just live with it
-
Of course you didn't deserve! No-one deserves this!
-
amusing how this topic started as me being positive and now sitting at my sitting with a tear down my face :( luckily no one can see it
-
Do go and see your GP seriously, you have been through so much you may well have depression!
-
I will soon, just want to go home and get into bed now.. I have my cat there and she looks after me. Thankfully work is over in little over an hour..
-
Aww yeah seriously do go and see a GP to help you out of this state.
I have a cat too, cats are great :)
-
:D mine is called tessie, she is awesome! although she does demand a lot of attention alllllll the time! cute though :) she cuddles up to me every night, although she doesn't make it easy to get up in the morning! me getting ready for work and her sleeping on my pillow! oh the jealousy!
-
Aahh bless I have 2 little boys Boris and Basil. A visit to your GP would be a good idea. S x x x x

-
The black dog is what Churchill called his depression!!!
Ahahah can't go wrong with little geek children :)
My cat is so nosy, he has just spent ages under the curtains watching neighbours getting a delivery with fascinating interest!
