So after my doctors appointment I went back out to get my presciption and I collapsed. This woman found me so she phoned an ambulance and they then phoned my mum and I was taken to hospital. When I arrived I was checked over and they did some blood and urine samples. The results showed that I am very dehydrated and have low blood sugar or something. I am being given fluids and some other stuff (like food or something because I'm not well enough to eat) through an IV and I'm being kept in until this evening at least. If I manage to eat something I will be able to go home tonight. I might not post for a bit as I am very weak and tired and need to sleep xx

You don't think my GP will lose her job? Its not really her fault, she only checked my throat.
I don't think they are running anymore tests today. As far as they are concerned I was dehydrated and had low blood sugar. They found the cause to why I ended up collapsing and that's it. They are only keeping me in until I have had enough rest and feel stronger.
I'm so tired but I can't sleep, the IV is hurting my hand and I feel sick :'(

I don't think this should reflect badly on your doctor.
Sorry you are so ill, hospitals aren't pleasant.

I just had a very severe panic attack, I had to be laid back in the bed while taking very deep breaths into an oxygen mask to regulate my breathing. I'm so physically and emotionally drained from the experience. I seem to be very unwell :'(

They said I am too unwell to go home today :'( I am having breathing problems and chest pains so have to wear an oxygen mask to help my breathing and I am wired up to heart and bllod pressure monitors. One of the female doctors who is looking after me was told by a nurse that I was very upset by what's happening. So she came and sat with me for a little while and we talked about what's happening. She said that they don't know if there are any problems with my heart, the readings from the monitor have come back a little irregular but that could be down to anxiety and stress. She said they they should new for sure after the cardiologist has seen me tomorrow.
I asked about having something to help with sleep and she said maybe later if I am still having trouble. She thinks it might be a good idea as she said I am clearly exhausted and need sleep. But my GP has been in contact with the hospital and may be in to see me later if she finishes at the surgery on time.

I'm very comfortable, I have a very modern orthopedic hospital bed and its really wide. I want to take it home with me. The nurse went and found me one of those v shaped maternity pillows to put under my normal ones to support my neck and shoulders as I have to lie on my back. I have lots of blankets and pillows and everyone is trying to make me as comfortable as possible which is really nice.
Thanks Shaz xx
My parents were here for a bit earlier but they have gone home and are coming back tomorrow. I actually prefer being on my own so I don't mind at all. My GP was coming to visit this evening but she got held up at the surgery. I thought that was very nice of her though.

It was nice of her and I was a bit disappointed when I found out she wasn't coming, maybe if I'm still here tomorrow night she will come see me then. I'm going to turn my phone off now as I need to get some sleep. The nurse keeps nagging me that I should be resting, she came in and shut the blinds (I have two windows in my room) so I probably won't reply until the morning. I could but I want to rule out physical completely this time and not confuse the issues. If they find they there is nothing wrong with my heart and I am dicharged when I am well enough will no diagnosis I'm well backed up and the doctor will have no choice but to look into my mental health.
I slept ok, I woke up in the night feeling very hot so I called the nurse worried that I had a fever. She checked my temperature and said I had just got too hot in bed so got me some cold water and a wash cloth to help cool my face a neck. I am still very weak and tired, a doctor is coming in to give me a check up in a bit and then its off to the cardiologist at 11. I think they are going to try me with some breakfest but I don't feel nearly well enough to eat. They won't let me home if I haven't eaten :(

Seen the cardiologist, he did loads of tests, ultrasounds, ecg and listened to my heart a lot with a stethoscope. The good thing is he found nothing abnormal so my heart seems to be working properly. I'm back in my room now, I don't have to wear the heart or blood pressure monitor anymore, just the IV. I couldn't eat any lunch and I am feeling very tired and weak so hoping to sleep most of the afternoon. I am still not well enough to go home so I am being kept in again tonight. They want to do some tests on my tummy tomorrow as I haven't been able to eat to see if there is something going on there.

Thanks Zaf and Buttercup and Pip xx
The readings from the heart monitor were slightly irregular and they have now put that down to anxiety and stress from having to stay in the hospital. All the tests the cardiologist did were all completely normal so they are not concerned about it. They want to do some scans and ultrasounds on my tummy tomorrow as they think there might be something wrong. I have been having pains and have no appetite and haven't felt well enough to eat. That could all be down to stress but we will have to see.
Still not allowed to change out of this hospital gown, they said I have to wear it as I am being examined quite a lot and its easier if I have the gown on instead of having to keep getting changed.
-
Those gowns are horrid :( hang in there Charley, they're trying their best to see if there are any physical symptoms making you feel so ill. I wonder if its worth asking them about the possibility of ME?
Z xxx
-
They are horrid, at least I don't get classed as a child anymore, then I would have to wear one with zoo animals on it :-\
The general doctor look after me will be in this evening to do a proper examination on my tummy before the tests tomorrow so I think I will mention ME then. My GP really didn't want to diagnose it, I think she was hoping I had forgotten and just tells me I feel like this because of my mood. Then I kind of felt like saying that that's not really good enough because my mood isn't improving.
-
That would be even worse :o
I think its worth mentioning if you can

I might feel very ill but that's nothing compared with how I look. My mum brought me a bag of my things earlier. Pjamas (in the hope I might get to wear them at some stage) tooth brush, make up bag etc. There was a mirror in the bag and you should see the state of me. My face is white but the skin around my eyes is dark and shadowy. My hair is looking pretty gunky too but I'm not where near well enough to get out of the bed and wash it. I need to have a wash at some point, I haven't brushed my teeth since I got here. Feel really skanky and look it :(

Yes they have spoken to my mum, only to tell her what's going on and about test results etc.
The nurse came in to check on me, I asked her about brushing my teeth and washing and she said that if I wanted a couple of nurses could take me to the wash room and help me shower and brush my teeth later. Then someone could changed the sheets on my bed and everything would be nice and clean. She said that I need to sleep now and then try to eat some dinner later.
-
When you're feeling up to it, it would probably help you feel a bit better to get up and shower.

Two nurses came and took the tubes out of the IV then took me in a wheelchair to the shower room, I had to be wrapped in blankets first so that I didn't get cold. There was a large shower cubicle with a seat and a curtain. They helped in into the seat, got the shower head for me, untied my gown and closed the curtain. I was able to was and shower gel my body in private. I had to be carful not to get my canula wet. Then I wrapped a towel around me and they helped me dry and put on a fresh hospital gown. I was wrapped up in clean towels while they washed, shapooed and conditioned my hair. They then helped me over to the wheelchair and put me near the sink so I could brush my teeth. I was taken back to my room in the wheelchair where another nurse was changing the sheets on my bed. I was sat in the big chair next to my bed and given a pillow to support my head while the nurse blowdried and ran the straighteners through my hair. They last thing I wanted was to get into bed with wet, frizzy hair. I was then helped back into my clean bed and they inserted a fresh tube into the IV. I feel a little better now I'm all clean and fresh. I'm waiting for the doctor to come and give me my check up so that I can go to sleep.

The doctor has been for my check up, she checked all the normal things and then examined my tummy for tomorrow. She listened to my bowel sounds and tapped for different noises and then felt all around my tummy and felt the organs to see if anything was painful or abnormal. She found that my lower tummy was quite tender and painful so that's something that will need investigating tomorrow. She gave me some more painkillers through the IV and told me I needed to sleep. I haven't got all the machines going off so I should get a better nights sleep.

The doctor has been for my check up and everything seems ok, she gave me some more painkillers. She told me to rest and try and eat some breakfast before my ultrasounds at 9:20, then I have a CT straight after then its sleeping for the rest of the day. She seems a little concerned that I'm still so weak and exhausted.
-
Had the ultrasounds and CT scan down, went really quickly and have been given the all clear. They are putting my tummy pains down to stress unless things get worse and they might carry out some further tests. It had been a fairly good morning, as well as getting the all clear I managed a whole slice of toast at breakfast. I really thought I would be going home soon.
Then I did something really stupid, when I got back from the CT I tried to get out of bed on my own. I don't know why, I was headed for the door when I came over very weak and dizzy, next thing I wake up on the floor with a very worried looking nurse and doctor looking down at me. I was put back into bed and checked over by the doctor, she said my breathing was a little rapid so I have to wear an oxygen mask again and I have been put back on a blood pressure monitor. When the nurse had tucked me back up in bed and made sure I was comfortable they both went outside and I heard what they said. Basically I'm not going to be allowed home for another two days at the least and the doctor said I am extremely ill they just can't find a diagnosis. I'm so upset I just want to go home :'(

The doctor came in to have a chat with me. She said that it looks like I am going to have to stay here for a few more days as I am really not very well. She said they are running out of ideas and I may still leave here without a diagnosis. She has taken the oxygen mask off now but wants me to keep the blood pressure monitor on. The nurse had now upped my fluid intake through the IV and I have just had 5 blood samples taken off for various tests on different chemicals in my blood. I'm kind of glad they don't think its anything serious but I just want to feel better :'(

My doctor has been, she arrived about 12 and had only just left. She brought me a teddy dressed in a nurses outfit all wrapped up in a pretty bag with tissue paper and ribbon and a card. She said she felt bad that she she seen me about an hour before I fell so ill. When I came to my appointment she thought I did look unwell but thought it was just that I was run down from the tonsillitis. I told her that I had been feeling really down recently and she said she isn't surprised because I have been feeling so poorly, but if I want when I am feeling better I can go see her at the surgery and we can talk about it properly. Then I cried because I was so upset and so tired and she was being so nice to me. She gave me a cuddle and said it was all going to be ok and that I am being well looked after and I will start to feel better soon. She said that I need to try and sleep this afternoon and just concentrate on getting better.

I clearly wasn't as hungry as I though, I managed about two or three mouthfuls of dinner and started to feel very ill. She said I have had a hard day and tucked me up in bed and told me to try and sleep for a bit.

I was so scared, my tummy was so large and swollen in the light I looked pregnant. He listened to different areas with a stethoscope and then started pressing very deeply on my tummy, it hurt. I didn't eat any breakfast because I was too weak and because of the pains in my tummy. The doctor came in for my check up and was concerned about the pain so sent me to a specialist. I was taken off and transferred from the bed onto this padded table, I had to lift my gown right up. The specialist examined me and spent about 20 minutes feeling my tummy, by this time I was too tired to care and just layed there with my eyes closed, I just moaned when he pressed my tummy and I felt pain. I had more ultrasounds and scans done, apparently they were paying close attention to my bladder as I could have problems there but again they have found nothing.

I was tried on this stimulant about an hour ago and the doctor is very impressed with the results. The pain has pretty much gone and I am a lot stronger, I have just managed three slices of toast and I'm feeling ok. Doctor has been and my check up was all ok. The nurse will be in soon to make sure I am comfortable and settled for the night. Xx

My tonsils have flared up again :( the doctor had a look and said it looks like the tonsilitis might be coming back, but it shouldn't stop me from being discharged tomorrow unless I become very poorly. He said to keep a close eye on it.
-
Oh no, I hope you are OK to go home tomorrow xxx
-
Its sore but it should be ok. If I get home and it gets worse I can always phone my GP so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Eventhough I really want to go home I am going to miss the nurses and doctors here, they have all been so lovely and caring.
I'm also going to miss this big comfortable bed xx
-
Its lovely that they have made you feel so comfortable being in hospital. It can be scary. S x x x x
-
They sound really lovely xxx
-
Some of it has been very scary :( but I have been well looked after. It does seem that I am going to leave without a diagnosis though.
-
I am a right baby when it comes to going into hospital. Dreading going in for the op on my back. It is a shame that you haven't got a diagnosis. But they have given you a thorough check over. Hopefully you will continue to feel better when you get home. S x x x x
-
I would be scared too, I'm already worrying about the fact that I might have to have a tonsillectomy. Xxx
-
The doctor has been for my check up, my throat doesn't seem to be getting worse but they will check again in the morning.

Eventhough my body is really putting up a fight to keep me here I am going home after lunch.
