Nige here
How do everyone
Have suffered with depression now for 13 years.
Was caused by childhood issues and pressure of work.
My attitude is that I think of my illness the same as alcoholism, a day at a time.
Must admit to being a consummate worrier, trust me I sometimes worry that I am not worrying and have forgotten something I should be worrying about.
I tend to use humour, not always appropriate humour, as a coping mechanism.
My wife is my rock, without her I would have fallen by the wayside long ago.
Currently going through the wonderful process of appealing my incapacity benefit claim, according to the dwp I am fit and well , they should come round when they send me a letter they would soon change their opinion.
Anyroad just wanted to say hi.

Hi Dragunov nice to meet you. +-_
I could have written what you wrote. I am in a desolate place right but coming here has really helped.
Hope you hang around.

Hi there )_) Welcome to this Forum. You made me smile about "worry about not worrying".... it's so true for many of us.
I also use humour. I've had to learn to laugh at myself, otherwise I don't know where I'd be.
Good luck with the DWP appealing process... that can be soul destroying. Last time I heard from my local office was a few months ago when I was at my worst. I vaguely remember writing realms of rantings...and a very paranoid letter of complaint because they were "harassing me". I haven't heard from them since!
Hope you find this place supportive

Sometimes knowing it's not just you whose Tupperware ain't airtight that makes things so much easier.
I was offered group councilling and didn't want to go, buggered if I am hugging complete strangers, but to know you aren't alone and that just maybe you will get better helps so much.
