Title: Feeling weird
Post by: DarylR on May 28, 2012, 06:01:02 PM
I will try my best to explain but apart from depression and moodswings i sometimes suffer other minor irratating things such as:

not feeling comfortable with eye contact,  lack of concentration, trying to imiate other peoples actions or phrases that i hear around me or on tv and taking offence easily at times when it comes to jokes being said about me.

can any of u relate to any of these? or maybe have any idea what it is thats wrong with me?   i am due to start counselling later this week and i'm taking anti depressant flouxetine 20mg daily.

thanks.

Hi Daryl

I can relate to most of that and I know many other here will too :)

The imitating phrases thing - is it like a compulsion? I know lots of autistic people do this.

Hope the counselling goes well :)

I can also relate to everything you have said apart from the Imitating.

So I do feel for you.

its hard to explain whiteadder but i find myself doing it without thinking, i talk to myself sometimes when im alone, immating how i would say things in social situations, in a weird way it helps me mind to relax, probly not making much sense here and your probly thinkin this is messed up which i can understand lol

When I was a teenager I used to pretend I was a talk show host and interview myself. This would happen at night when I couldn't sleep.

I think you're just shy and have low self esteem. Nothing freaky at all.

I talk to myself a lot of the time, also to the animals, plants and inanimate objects, I rehearse things a lot too (for example what I'll say to my GP on Thursday), and with the possible exception of talking to plants I think its perfectly normal

All you need to remember is that no matter what you're going through, there are a million other people in the world going through the same thing. You're not alone or weird, unless you have two heads or something you're not telling us about  ;)

I am always talking to myself while doing things, also talk to all of my animals, they probably think I am talking gobbly gook.

I think many people do this you are not alone.

I can also relate to most of what you have said. I also talk to myself and rehearse what I am going to say at appointments etc.
