On Friday, my GP decided it would be a good idea to reduce my Lithium dose from 1000mg to 800mg.
I have hardly slept since Saturday and am totally freaked out - I keep thinking I hear people in the house, I have also lost several important things in the house with no recollection of where I put them, and I had to go to Sainsburys this morning and I couldn't remember what I went for because I was so hyper vigilant about the other people in the store - I thought they were looking at me because I appear mad on the outside too.
I have had several panic attacks and am operating on an extremely high level of anxiety and fear.
I am not sure what to do - any advice anyone ?
Thanks.

I really think you should contact your gp and tell him/her how you are feeling.

Yes I agree with Shaz that you need to see your GP.

Agree with the others, I would contact your GP.
If it makes you feel slightly better, I also have moments like that.

I agree that you should go back to the doctor, the decrease in meds seems to have badly affected you. Hope you get it sorted and you feel better soon xx

I agree, you need to see your GP as soon as you can

I agree too

Many thanks for all your replies. I have spoken to my Dr who was quite suprised but agreed that I should go back onto the original dose of Lithium.
My husband has come home early as he was a bit worried so that's good too.
I hope the Lithium levels sort themselves quickly before I totally lose the plot. I am in a bizarre place ..................

Glad your doctor has changed the dose back

Glad your GP but your dose back up. I was speaking to a friend that takes lithium, she had similar symptoms when her dose was reduced. Personally, I have no knowledge of lithium, I take Lamotrigine instead.
Hope things settle xxx

I am really really scared that I will never be able to come off the Lithium ( It has horrible side effects). But I am more scared that my GP or my psychiatrist will say I HAVE to come off it. I know that sounds mad, but I can't bear the way it messes with my mind :( I sort of feel that I can't live without it ?!
Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh I need it to stop. I am begging for a break from my mind "£$
No idea what to do now.....????????????? Any ideas ???????
Hi Buttercup, I took Lamotrogine for a while but it didn't really help me, so I was moved to Lithium. x

The Lamotrigine seems to lesson my depressive episodes. I'm newly diagnosed so I'm still titrating up am on 200mg got to get to 400mg. It doesn't do a lot to stop me going manic they're going to sort that out next!
I'm trying to avoid lithium, but then the other drugs don't have good side effects either. I know I will be on meds for life and don't really relish the idea !!!
Hope things go well for you. Xxx
