Hi Lj and welcome to the forum.

I took fluoxetine at 20mg, I didn't notice anything until I got to 40 mg but the dose wasn't raised until I'd been on them for about 20 weeks.

Have you spoken to your GP?

Hi and welcome

It often takes a few adjstments to get the type and dose right, you need to tell your GP you dont think your present meds are working

Hi Lazzie.
Fluoxetine isn’t known for knocking people out. When people do get side effects the most common ones are stomach and gut related -Nausea, Diarrhoea and the like. Headache and Insomnia are quite common too. As regards dose you can actually go up to 60 mg.

I hope you manage to find people to talk to here, and that your confusion eases.

Hello vix and welcome,

How long have you been on the last medication?  I had to try several before the Mental Health team found one that worked for me.  Do you have regular appointments with your gp to see how your meds are working?

Hi thanks for your reply i have been on venlefaxine for nearly 2 months i started on 100 mg and am now on 150 im due to see th gp in next few days. In the last week ive felt worse than ever and am unsure if its worth increasing the dose again or just asking to change. I have been feeling quite dizzy and sick im unsure if this is a side affect of the meds or just stress im not sure what to do xx

You need to tell your dr how you are feeling, and maybe enquire if you could maybe change the meds you are on.  We are all different and what works for some doesn't for others.
