Title: smoking
Post by: kendo on April 11, 2012, 07:48:27 PM
Hi all,

I am on 100mg setraline for depression/anxiety. Been on them for 3 and a half months now and doing ok.
My question is this : does smoking cigarettes effect the medication in any way?

I have stopped drinking any alcohol as I found this to lower my mood quite drastically for a few days afterwards even after only a couple of pints it seemed!

I am smoking more than usual at the moment, especially when I feel anxious. Am I really not helping myself? (aside from usual smoke related health issues)

Many thanks

I am on mitrazapine and I found when I smoked I felt very heavy and sluggish. I was also smoking alot more. I was also get a racing heart which made my anxiety seem worse. I gave up 5 days ago and havent looked back. I only took it up 5 months ago after a break of 3 years. I thought smoking was helping with my stress but it was making it worse I think
