Hi,
My name is Ken. I have what I think is probably a milder version of depression than many on here. My days are not hell but they are certainly not enjoyable. I also suffer with anxiety and social phobia. I realised that something was wrong back in november last year and eventually plucked up the courage to see my gp in early January.
I am now on 50mg setraline which has given me some improvement but 2 weeks ago my improved days just went. I am due to start taking 100mg tomorrow in hope that it will bring the better days back.
I must say that when I started to see the drugs working it was quite amazing! The happiness that came along would give me energy and I could sustain it for most of the day. It has made me wonder if I have always been depressed but never known it. Happiness is such a powerful sensation that has been missing for so long. My hope is that I can get the good days back soon.
I have found looking through the posts on this website very useful and I hope I can be a part of it.
cheers, Ken.

Hi Ken and welcome
Sometimes meds seem to work at first then the benefit fades and you need to change to a different type, you need to keep your GP updated on how things are going so you get the dose and/or type that suits you

Welcome Ken

hi all,
thanks for the warm welcome :)
Started increased dosage today. was wondering if I will have to wait the usual weeks to see the response again or if it will have effect sooner? What is normal for dosage increase?
;)

personally I find it does have a time lag but not as bad as when starting antidepressants for the first time, I guess each individual will vary though

Hi ken, I know exactly how you feel, I felt better for a few days and really happy it felt so great and then it started wearing off and now I'm waiting to get my dose increased. It's crippling to actually feel better then have it all go away. Hope your meds start working for you again, let me know how you get on.

Hi there.
11 days into increased dosage of 100mg setraline. Have had a really bad week of bad anxiety. I am led to believe that this can happen with a new dose.
yesterday I woke up in a better mood and had definite moments of happiness, these have continued today so fingers crossed they will be here tomorrow as well!!!! :-\

With some meds you do get a 'dip' before the effects start to take hold. It looks like its the higher doeses starting ot kick in so I hope its the start of better days for you. :)

ok, it had to end at some point I guess. If all the days were good it would just be wierd. The last 2 days I have slumped again. Didn't help that my wife got annoyed by something I said (or didn't say). I find it hard to cope when I have put those around me in a bad mood too.
Hoping that tomorrow will improve. Why is it that it takes a new day to change the way we feel? Do we reset in our sleep or something? lol !"!

Makes me wonder sometimes ;).
I do hope you wake feeling better tomorrow.
Take care

Hi,
Had 9 days with bad anxiety, then 4 days that were great then 3 days that were low, and today is another great one. Hoping the ratio will improve as time goes on.Good luck with yours, hope you see results soon!
