Hi guys,
I have cut down my hours at work very recently to two days a week, this is because I was calling in sick a lot due to low mood and panic attacks, part of me felt that I went back to work too soon but we all have to pay bills! :(
So I now have time for myself (finally!) and I don't know what to do with it! My therapist suggested sowing, which I've tried but just don't enjoy it very much. Has anybody got any suggestions on hobbies that they do to help them? Any suggested would be helpful! ;D

Knitting, crochet, cross stitch, sketching or painting, card making, cant think of any more!

Learn to play an instrument if you cant already...it takes you into another world. Very therapeutic

Thats a brilliant idea Steve, something I'd love to do when I have time :)

I do cross stitch and card making. You can always start with something simple.

You can get some lovely cross stitch card kits, I do them quite a lot so I have a few extra special cards to send my great aunt and give to my mum etc.

modelling, writing, reading.
Writing and Reading really helps me due to it taking me away into a world were everything is as i want it!

Fishing.
With nature, the chance of catching your dinner, and being generally being busy sorting out and learning how to use the equipment. Im a sea fisherman, but fresh water can be just as much fun.
Baking, again something which is quite a precise (thats why I like it :)) hobby, plus you get to make great things and share with the family/friends.

I have trained in martial arts for some 15 or so years and always have found it great to pass the time. I don't do the usual commonly thought of styles so there is no crazy jumping spinning backflip kicks to the head but there are elements of kata and set routines you can practice slowly in a small space such as your lounge etc. Maybe , if its something you would like you could google " 8 pieces brocade" which is an old shaolin form for breathing, quite simple to learn in a base form and also very good breathing techniques to relax you. I do it every day, hasn't cured me of the downers but without it I'd be that bit more tense for sure. Just a throw into your pot of choices ;)

Walking ..... Plus its exercise which is good, however depends where you live and if you can drive , walking round central bradford for some reason isn't as much fun as walking round the lake district

Thanks Harry for making me :)
