Title: Change of Medicine
Post by: FreyaD on February 09, 2012, 05:09:57 PM
Hi,

I got diagnosed with depression 3 weeks ago and was put on Citalopram but I wasn't sleeping. Went back to the docs today and he has stopped the Citalopram and put me onto Mirtazapine.

Anyone got any thoughts on Mirtazapine? I've been told that Citalopram is really good so wanted to keep on it, but I can't deal with not sleeping!!

Sory Freya, don't know anything about the meds they have put you on now, was on Citalopram before, then it stopped working, now on Duloxetine.

I am sure someone else will advise you.

So.. this may be a bit of a stupid question but bare/ bear (sp?) with me, my brain is like mush atm

I've been reading on another forum that mirtazapine causes weight gain- is this just because it's making people hungrier and therefore they are eating more? Or can the actual tablet cause weight gain?

From what I understand, when they say this it means the medication makes you have an increased appetite, so you eat more.

I had a massive increase in appetite almost instantly when I started taking Mitrazapine. For this reason it wasn't right for me so I asked to be put onto something else xx
