Title: hello
Post by: Buttercup on January 26, 2012, 11:10:25 AM
Hi  I've been reading the forums for a while but haven't managed to post anything yet!  I've been diagnosed with depression by my GP late last year and put on Fluoxetine.  Had my first CBT assessment session this week where they said I also had GAD and Social Phobia.  My mind is all over the place at the moment and I feel so alone and hopeless which is silly because I have a very supportive husband and young children.  I wanted to say more but finding it difficult to put into words at the moment.

it may be worth telling your doctor you still feel so low as he/she may consider altering the dose or the type of your medication xx

Hello and  .>,

Its not unusual to feel as you do, I know I have felt the same, even though I also have a very supportive husband and family.

You are not alone.

Welcome.

Posting how you feel can be very hard some days so dont worry. Just post what you can and when you can, dont feel pressured.

Thank you all for replying.  I am seeing my GP again next week so will talk about the way I am feeling, although normally go in with a plan of what I am going to say and then don't manage to say any of it!

It's nice to be able to talk on the forum, haven't really told anyone how I am feeling, apart from my husband, as worry they will judge me.  So just put on a brave face to the world which is so hard and tiring.xx

We will always listen here.

When I go to my GP, I write a few notes down to take with me. I know it sounds nerdy, but especially when talking about my feelings i find I get very emotional. It can be a huge help to have something written so that you can check your talking points as you wait (also keeps your mind off the waiting room ;) )

Also If you feel very emotional during the appointment like I do sometimes, you can always pass the note to them to read - its easier to say 'I cant talk, please read this' than to try and describe everything through a flood of tears.
