Title: If you were going to get a tattoo what would you have

I keep toying with the idea of getting a tattoo- this will be my first! :)

I want something that says I am strong, and that I believe in happiness, and hope, and an incredible future- without this illness.
I want it to be about love, and dreams and wishes.
What do you think?
I only want a small one. On or near my wrist.
I like dandelions, but I don't really want a tattoo of a weed!
Any ideas?

I have a butterfly and my chinese birth year, both small and both out of sight unless I'm very scantily clad - one thing I would say is that some employers tend to frown on them if visible when normal working clothes so give that a little thought too and do find a tattooist that someone recommends personally if you can xx

There are lots of designs you can find on the web, thats where I found my butterfly, I did consider a ying/yang at one time but liked the butterfly better :)

The dandilion wouldn't be good IMO. As you say... its a weed.

Anything flower or bird related seems to work well.

I've got 4 tattoos, soon be 6 and a full sleeve.  My last one was 'born to lose, live to win' around an ace of spades skull.  My next 2 are going to be Latin quotes which translate to 'to conquer or to die' and 'while there is life, there is hope' ... they are going down my ribs... fun!

I also have 3 tatoo's I have a red rose in a black heart on my shoulder, a chinese symbol on my ankle which means 'to give love' and rose bud with its stem and leaves just above my upper hand.

I agree with Zaf look on the internet or go through the books in a good tatoo studio, the one on my above my hand was from the books in the studio and was personalised slightly for me.

Dragon fly. I have designed it myself but stil havent had the urge to get it down. being a big woss that i am ;D

I have a butterfly on my upper thigh and my birth sign on my bikini line :)

I'd suggest you put it somewhere easy to cover in the summer in case a protential employer doesnt like them; we have a lad working for us that has large skulls all down his arms and he has to make sure he wears long sleeves if he is going to a prospective customer or to look at jobs to do a quote

Just got my latest ones at the weekend...
Got told by many people they would kill... and having one side done after the other would be daft because I have to lay on a fresh one.
The only thing I have to say is... the outlining near the armpit was a killer, but other than that... I was falling asleep  :D

A few years ago I almost got a tattoo of a black mamba on my back but I bottled out in the end. I still kind of really want it though. Probably something based on the picture below.

I would get a picture of Mohammed, peace be upon him, tatooed on my forehead, and I would go to live in Bradford with a pair of boxing gloves.

I have a banksy rat with " because I'm worthless " written above it on my upper right arm .  Seemed pretty apt at the time , below it is the head of a troll, it's ugly cute if that means anything. I have a spiky electric plasma ball on one shoulder blade and a black hand print with a spiral where the palm should be on the other . On my lower right leg I have a big cell shaded cartoon like picture of boba fett and on my left inner forearm I have a small picture of 2 tv's looking at each other, which sound odd but is by far my favourite tattoo.

When choosing don't rush and I would not choose one from the book they have in the tattoo place, when you see "the one" you will know

Good luck , if you like flowers a lotus flower can look good , just a thought

I have 3 tattoos at present and they all have a meaning ...
1) tribal peace lilly on the top of my right leg, I had this done after I was diagnosed with my stomach conditions and the idea was that the tribal peace lilly would help me stay calm and strong
2) tribal lucky octupus on the top of my neck, I had this done after I had a tumor removed from my neck/spine.  I designed it myself and it was just a 'doodle' until my Dad named it an Octupus! This one was to show that I beat it and I'm still fighting.
3) 3 Lilles on my left side taking up all my side, I had this done to help me stay strong and concentrate and the good things in my life - my niece Miya, my goddaughter Grace and the love of my life Garath (my fella).

I plan to have a couple more.  I have designed all my tattoos and some for friends as well, its a passion of mine :-)
