Title: Insomnia
Post by: Desperado99 on January 04, 2012, 01:25:49 PM
What do you do to help you sleep?

I've had two really bad nights sleep (don't want a third!!!) and am really knackered..... I managed the school run this morning (only just) and went back to bed when I got home (but didn't sleep). I know it's down to anxiety (am on dosulepin, which should help with sleep - and I'm going back to the doc next week for a repeat prescription) as I was worried about going back to work etc after xmas, so hopefully tonight I should calm down a bit.........

just wondered if anyone had any tips  :)

Obviously, stay away from caffine. Alcohol is bad for sleep as well.

regular time in bed as well as getting up.

I've had insomnia for years, i'm better than I was though, its something I find doctors like to ignore

If you dont have any sleeping meds take some antihistamine, someone told me about this a few weeks ago and I tried it for the first time ast night and it seemed to work for me :)

Thanks for your replies.

I'm not a big caffeine fiend, although I had a few cups of tea today to keep me going........ I bought some camomile type teas last week (twinnings 'calm' selection - how posh am I? lol) and am having those in the evenings.
Not really a drinker, so alcohol's not an issue.

I do have anti-histamines, so I may give that a go (not the non-drowsy ones though  ;D )

No, not the non drowsy ones ;)

You might find the 'night time' tea bags that Pukka do worth a try if the chamomile doesnt work xx
