Wanted to find a place where, when I feel brave enough to chat, to people who are suffering with the same symptoms as myself, the majority of my friends don't understand depression/anxiety and I find it embarassing to talk about, even though I have had recurrent bouts of depression for 30 years.
So HELLO! Everyone

Hi and welcome
You'll find everyone here will help as much as they can without making judgement and will understand what you're going through

Thankyou so much - didn't expect a reply so quickly!

Sometimes there is no one around or those that are arent up to answering, its pot luck really, I have suffered from depression for at least 20 years on and off and have found this place a godsend :)
-
I hope it does for me too - it's an illness that is quite isolating I think - no one really understands (even yourself) what your problems are
-
Thats very true, this time I got a really great counsellor who helped a lot but I've also got a huge amount of support here too :)
-
Welcome to the forum.
Im Glen and have suffered on and off with depression for 12 years.
When you feel ready, let us know a little more about what stuggles you are having and we may be able to support / advise you.

Welcome :)

Well! Done some research and it says to avoid caffeine - so have changed my tea and coffee for decaff - been told to eat high carbs when not feeling hungry to give me energy and even made it to the end of the drive to my home - heart thumping on my chest - but its a start! I am not going to let this beat me!!!
-
Well done, what a great attitude :)
Dont forget you might get withdrawal symptoms if ypu've been a heavy caffiene user
-
Have you any idea of caffeine withdrawal symptoms - are they similar to anxiety? I probably drink 8 - 10 pots of coffe a day :(
-
I got terrible headaches but I'm not sure if it affects everyone on the same way, might it be better to cut it out slowly?
-
Only had 2 de-caff's might just have a proper coffee - it makes sense what you say - caffeine is quite a powerful drug isn't it? And from what I have been told there is more in tea than in coffee.
-
I'm not sure about that but it would be a good idea to gradually cut down - dont forget chocolate has a fair bit of caffiene in it too :(
-
A belated .>,
-
Thankyou - not a chocolate eater, so thats not a problem
