I just got an email from my aunt to say my nan has been diagnosed with something that could make her blind by Xmas, that she's so confused she can't be left alone and that it's life threatening.
This is really out of the blue for me.
My mum's been telling me that my aunt has been making a fuss over nothing as nan never mentioned any symptoms to her.
My aunt has told me in the past that my mum sticks her head in the sand.
I don't know if my nan ever told my mum about the symptoms.
I'm just really confused and have just blubbed on the phone to my sister

i was sorry to read your news as bad news at any time is hard to deal with i guess under these circumstances even worse as you've not got the whole story i hope things are better soon

sounds like macular degeneration for me, it runs in my family, it is bad news and especially before xmas.. chin up!! :hugs:

No it's something called arteritis. (sp?)
Unfortunately nan forgets to take the medication she's been given.
I've just started on new meds, literally four days ago, and I feel all over the place.
i've got three hospital appointments myself this week so don't know if I can go visit her.
Ugh, I feel so useless.

Try to pace yourself Laura, is it possible to phone your nan during the week and visit her at the weekend?

try not to beat yourself up. hopefully things will begin to get better soon, hang on in there ^&^
