Title: Monkey?
Post by: Michael Frankum on August 26, 2012, 11:37:40 PM
This has become very important to me. Can anybody get that little monkey smiley to work? It's so cute! I've even managed to download it to my desktop, but I can't get it into any of my incredibly insightful postings on this site. I feel that it could add a sense of profundity to my statements, marking me as perhaps a 21st Century reincarnation of The Buddha. I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, but I certainly bear a close physical similarity to Chi Tzu, the fat Buddha, except that he was known to smile.  $^%  %&^. But I digress. Monkey anyone?

That made me laugh, thank you =)

After some fiddling, I think there's an error in the source code, the bit in red I *think* needs to be deleted... Without having proper access I can't tell for sure....

 <a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="window.opener.replaceText(&quot; !£&quot;&quot;, window.opener.document.forms.postmodify.message); window.focus(); return false;"><img src="http://depressionforums.co.uk/dpf/Smileys/default/sAni_babymonkey2.gif" alt="" title="" style="padding: 4px;" border="0" /></a>

A work-around would be putting the following code every time you want to use the monkey, only replace the brackets with square brackets:
(img)http://depressionforums.co.uk/dpf/Smileys/default/sAni_babymonkey2.gif(/img)

Does that make sense??

Your dark humour amuses me.

I don't even have the option of a monkey. However I do have this: &(*

(http://depressionforums.co.uk/dpf/Smileys/default/sAni_babymonkey2.gif) Great. Thanks for your help Ocean. Mark my words, soon, EVERYONE will be doing the Monkey! Now, may I push my luck? You seem to know your way around a computer problem. I was trying to upload a picture of Wedgie as my Avatar, but I'm having problems. I haven't got a website or Facebook profile of my own, so I just clicked on my desktop as the source, but this doesn't seem to be enough. I know you've got loads on your plate, but if you could drop a hint or two as to what I should be doing, I'd be really grateful. Best Wishes to everyone.

Glad I could help =) By avatar, you mean you want the pic to display under your screen name, yes? When you go into the profile bit you need to click the third option 'I will upload my own picture:', then click 'browse' and find the file where you saved it on your computer. That should do it. If it doesn't then get back to me, I can think of one other solution but it's a bit more hassle so fingers crossed. Ocean.

One more thought: the file needs to be .jpg or .gif, though it's rare to find pictures that aren't saved as one of those.

Thanks for indulging me Ocean. I'd tried as you suggested, but the page just seems to reset to the way it was before, not even listing the details that I have input for the whereabouts of the photo. I tried logging out then logging back in, hoping that by some miracle this would work, but there was still no picture. It is a jpg file. I often find that if something doesn't work, the IT Crowd solution of switching it off, then switching it back on works, but even that piece of technical wizardry didn't help this time! I think my brain has become numbed by the hour. I'm going to try to get some sleep, and hope that Wedgie can get some rest too. I hope you get some peace as well. You've already given me access to the baby monkey. That's more than enough for one night's work. Thanks.

You may find it easier to load it into something like photobucket and do it from there, if you cant then email me the picture and I'll try to do it for you

What Zaf said! =) I tried to upload photo and it worked fine for me. Personally I'd try using a different browser (firefox, internet explorer, google chrome), then if it doesn't work, upload photo to a site like photobucket or flickr that are photo sharing sites and try that way. Just need to copy the url of the photo as the location. Would like to see Wedgie so hoe you do manage it. Good luck!

Thanks Ocean. I sent the photo to Zaf, and now you can see Wedgie. (http://depressionforums.co.uk/dpf/Smileys/default/sAni_babymonkey2.gif) And, thanks to you, the monkey. This site offers better support than the Microsoft website. Perhaps we could all branch out, and make a bit of dosh on the side.  $%$. (I seem to be getting a bit obsessed with all the smilies. Perhaps I should give them a rest. Ah, what the hell.  ()_

I use photobucket as a rule when I have issues uploading pictures.  Thanks for bringing up the matter of the monkey as I was distracted yesterday  $%$

I can be OCDish about finding smilies so I'm going to have to be strong willed ..... just realized I'm going to have to go through the smilies as I've found another one that isn't working _-+
