Been on Paroxetine for many years
Started having anxiety attacks earlier this year.
Dr upped my dose to 20mg which helped but killed my sex drive
Asked Dr if I could try Mertazepine (I heard it didn't effect SD so much) so went on to 15mg Mertazepine
Then still felt anxiety and no improvement with SD so Dr upped me to 30mg
Still feeling very down and impotent!
Saw Dr on friday and he said oh well nothing seems to be working so ''just stop taking them'' !
He suggested a IAPT clinic
I said I didn't like the idea of just stopping AD's
So he has give me a perscription for Venlafaxine, saying 'oh these are supposed to be very good'
I feel as if he has lost interest.......

Hmmmm, it might be worth considering changing your GP

I agree with Zaf. No competent doctor would advise you just come off anti- depressants.
I'm glad I'm getting a psychiatric assessment - at least they specialise in this sort of illness and medications. Sick of hearing 'Venlafaxine is a good drug' from OH.

yep, change your doc for sure, sounds like he is a real bum.

That's crazy, you should have confidence in your gp. I would seriously consider changing to another gp.
