Isn't it amazing how something so simple can be so delicious....
Last night I lightly toasted some brown bread, on top I added some mushrooms sauteed in low fat marg and added 2 poached eggs on top
After that, a little pepper to taste
I could have that again right now! lol
-
aarrgghhh, mushrooms are the devils food (as are sprouts!) ;)
-
I agree with you on the sprouts.... and I would add turnip to that
But mushrooms are great :P
-
turnips and swede
I had a friend some years ago that liked those big flat open mushrooms with jam on :o
actually I dont mind button mushrooms raw but I just dont like the texture of them cooked
-
I like the big open mushrooms too... just not with jam.... too weird!
I like to put some philidelphia in them and chuck them in the oven.
Again, something else that is very simple and very tasty
-
I love mushrooms :)
Simple meals are the best. We used to have curries with the leftover roast meat on a Monday but recently we've been having ommelettes with it! Even more yummy if theres a few roasties and some veg left to chop up small too!! Chop it all up, put it in with some beaten egg and make an ommelette - a filling of bread sauce is optional ;)
xx

Thats a good idea... I'll give that a try.
A few years ago, I decided to make mini-pizza's with left over roast veggies.
I use pita bread rather than pizza bases, some tomato puree, roast veggies, (some extra mushrooms to stop Zaf from stealing them lol!) then some cheese and chuck them in the oven!
Simple and tasty

Poached eggs with butter, some salt and pepper is food of the gods (note the little 'g')....all that kind of stuff, basic, warm, nutritious - feels like you're feeding more than just your tummy

Peannut butter on toast for me =+-

Marmite on toast for me and a cup of tea to go with it _)_.

I'm vegetarian...my go to simple meal is as follows:
Toasted white bread, covered in cheddar cheese and heated. Add baked beans. Add HP sauce.
DELICIOUS.

I'm virtually vegan but cheese is my weakness, love it cold but loath it cooked for some reason ::)
-
toast and cheese.
Simple, quick, magic

Fish finger sandwiches. Lush
-
Omg :o I thought D's chip sandwiches bad ;)
-
Love fish finger sandwiches, if you're really splashing out they're even better with cheese and marmite ^-^
-
:o :o Got to admit I do like cheese and chocolate biscuits (must be McVites) and marmite and jam sandwiches even though I have to avoid both wheat and chocolate ::)
-
I love big open mushrooms stuffed with pate and bunged in the over to heat through. The toast with mushrooms and egg on top sounds delish. Funny this is the first time when my depression has got bad that I havent went off food. *^* never mind off to make some lunch

Food, love cooking or hate it, we all eat. I am A depressive, and a chronic foodie!, Favorite food is two soft-boiled eggs, and Marmite on toast, that and a cup of Tea* ( Yorkshire Teabags brewed for two minutes) is heaven.
I have a great recipe for real ( not out of a jar ) Chilli if anyone is interested. For the past five years I baked Christmas cakes for my family as presents, this year I haven't a small prize for guessing why not. Yup, your right. I must be nuts, last year I did seven of them. ( I even make my own marzipan ) !+_
-
I'd be interested in your Chilli recipe :)
I love soda scones and cheese. My feel good food =+-
-
OK , here's my favorite Chilli recipe.
One or two teaspoons olive oil ( or a small splash )
One large onion finely chopped
two crushed garlic cloves
two fresh chillies, de seeded and chopped ( or a teaspoon of ready prepared in oil )
two teaspoons ground cumin
one teaspoon ground coriander
one teaspoon paprika
pinch of cayenne pepper
large can chopped tomatoes
half pint stock (beef oxo cube )
ground black pepper
llb lean minced beef
can red kidney beans drained
one tablespoon tomato puree.
warm oil in large saucepan, add onions and fry gently for five minutes, add garlic chillies and spices , fry for two to three minutes, stirring, add mince beef, and stir until browned.
Add canned tomatoes tomato puree and stock, stir well, bring to boil, add kidney beans, reduce heat, and simmer for twenty minutes.
season with black pepper, and if you want to be authentic, serve with rice, and chopped fresh coriander leaves.
Enjoy! =+-

Going to give that a go.

Hubby is the chef in the family (even if I am the one who is French hum hum....!) so will send him that recipe thank you!
-
Yay! :(
I can tell I am going to be happy here; comfort food- marmite on toast (or even better crumpets, ideally soaked in real butter), peanut butter / fish finger / bacon / banana sandwiches (not all together I hasten to add).
Ok, I'm going to have to own up......I love food!
Very big higs xxxx *()

Bananas and golden syrup on toast! My partner made me this for breakfast yesterday and my tongue exploded in a heavenly burst of absolutely divine deliciousness! Oh it was good...
-
Curry, a decent power blend, a bit of garlic and tomato, it really is simple and quick. Failing that, kitkatts and lemon curd. Don't knock it until you've tried it.
-

We've got an air fryer and it was an essential kitchen device when I literally pulled the door off our oven and we had to get a whole new one lol
-
We've got an air fryer which doesn't get used much as I live with a fussy eater.

Ours is wonderful for tiny portions, but by the time I've made chips or hash browns or onion rings in it for Steve, it's not safe for me to do anything for myself. I'd love to find other ways to use it though!
