My husband and I volunteer purely because we don't want to dit at home twiddling our thumbs.  We are both disabled so we can work the hours we want to.

There are different things you can get involved with including coffee mornings at churches.  You don't have to be 'religious' to gp to events at churches as they are there for the community.

I'm not allowed to share URL's without Pip's approval, but if you go to Amazon and search for "Unsuitable for adults" it'll be on there   :happy0158:

Maybe it's just me, but if you have a hobby you can totally immerse yourself in, you get a few hours free of depression.  For me it's writing, for the hubby it's creating webpages, for my MIL it's knitting, for my SIL it's reading, for my BIL it's being artistic... different strokes for different folks and all that!   :happy0158:

Thanks Pip, Amanda,  found your book, like the title. It'll be next on my reading list.

Got so stressed at work in recent months that all else seemed to go wrong and suffer.  Anyway away from that now I'm hopefully beginning to recover .

I like all things fermentation. My latest is sourdough bread . Mmmm The sordough culture takes much longer to rise. So a good one for interest.

Thanks

Thank you for your support, Acorn!

Do you make the bread by hand or in a machine?  I love freshly made, still warm bread!  I hope your sourdough tastes good!

Hi, I make the sourdough by hand and regular bread by machine.  With the sourdough ,  it maybe takes 15 mins knead for it to be suitably elastic.

no,  not angry,  more repetative and methodical.  With the dough ball in front of you,  pinch a piece between thumb and fingers.  Pull this piece towards you,  then with your palm push,  so that the dough ball stretches.  Quarter turn then repeat.

easier to do than it sounds but as you say a good workout after 15 mins

I'm guessing you have to have a lot of patience to do that repeatedly for 15 minutes?!

Is it possible, in theory, to make a sweet dough as well as savoury and sour or is that a daft question?  lol

Ha,  bread can have a little sugar in it  (teaspoon or half tsp) .  Cake Batters is the thing for more sweetness.  Wait,  just googled sweet bread  - wow, bit more sugar in that    :happy0158:
