There does seem to be more coming out and talking about their depression, which highlights the illness for all of us.

American consumer brashness mixed with hypomania/mania - results in her being particularly loud mouthed. I am sure she is nice in real life and I am grateful to her for the work she is doing.

I wish I could view these programs but I will not be able to.

Interesting that the chef, Johnnie Mountain is going to be featured considering this episode on tGBM:

I have to say I felt for him when I saw that programme because I would have been just as bad even if I didn't show it quite so much. Marcus Wareing did seem to come out looking quite nasty though. I didn't know he had problems with depression but it figured to see that look of utter frustration as if everything depended on it.

Will Young was on Chris Evans' show on Radio 2 on Friday morning, talking about his depression. Maybe I'm being over hopeful, but with more famous people coming "out", maybe the stigma will start to lessen

The thing is, famous people, particularly entertainers have always had more allowance to be in such a way. I think it's important to see the less likely people come out and basically show that it can affect anyone. There is also a level of detachment from these celebrities which leaves many members of the public with no real sympathy. What some people said about Amy Winehouse (pre- and post- death) was a good example.

Not to forget Stephen Fry, who has been open about his problem with manic-depression for years.
I love him for that. Its amazing, that people like Ruby Wax, Stephen Fry or Eddie Izzard, who are professional comedians suffer from depression, in fact a lot of creative people do.
I still think though that it does make a difference whether you are famous or just a person who has an everyday job and lives an everyday life.

It was good, and better still, it had REAL people talking about their depression. Well done them!
